Kelly Laas is the Librarian/Information Researcher at the Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions (CSEP) at the Illinois Institute of Technology. During her four years at the Center, she has supervised a number of projects relating to the development of online ethics resources and collections, including the management of CSEP’s large Online Codes of Ethics collection and the development of the NanoEthicsBank, a web-based bibliographic database of materials on the social and ethical implications of nanotechnology. Kelly has also been the librarian for two NSF Research Experience for Undergraduate programs at IIT, assisting in the development and teaching of the ethics portion of these summer programs. She is currently working closely with the Online Ethics Center in the development of the
Ethics Education Library, an online collection of scholarly literature and best practices in the area of ethics education, as well as a database of ethics case studies available on the web. She is the librarian for the OpenSeminar for Research Ethics, a NSF-funded project that is in the midst of refining an online, community-oriented, collaborative responsible conduct of research course. Kelly received her MLS in 2005 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a member of the College and Research Libraries division of the American Library Association and the Chicago Association of Solo Librarians.
