Background Information

Fred Cuny was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on November 14, 1944, and his family moved to Texas in 1952. Early on, Fred dreamed of a career as an Air Force pilot, but a severe leg injury ended his hopes. Instead, he studied engineering at Texas A&M University, Texas A&M College, the University of Houston and Rice University. After working as a city planner in Texas during the late 1960s, he started the disaster relief company INTERTECT and worked in several countries which were devastated by wars and natural disasters. He mysteriously disappeared on March 31, 1995, in Chechnya, and it is believed that he was executed.
