Welcome from the Director
Greetings! And welcome to the Online Ethics Center for Engineering and Science, a.k.a. "The OEC." We are glad you're here.
The OEC is an international site in that our OEC community and visitors are from all over the world. We are hosted by the University of Virginia, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Here you will find a treasure trove of resources for teaching and learning about ethics in engineering and science. You will also find communities of practice organized around particular interests in ethics. OEC members are a diverse group of faculty, students, researchers, managers, and others, here learning and sharing what they know about ethics. Our institutional partners come with a variety of concerns, such as what it means to engineer ethically, and to pursue scientific research with integrity.
If this is your first time visiting the OEC site, please do take the time to look around. There are recordings from past events, links to register for future events, a plethora of resources to search, and challenging ethical issues of our times being raised. If you are a returning or regular visitor to the OEC, welcome back! If you are not yet a member of the OEC community, then we hope you'll consider joining the community.
Warmly,
Rosalyn W. Berne, PhD, OEC Director
